Someone needs to post, so as to get beyond the 'mystery page'. I guess it might as well be me...

Good morning.

Congrats to rigs on the impending arrival of a grandbaby and daughter's engagement. Also, yay for the new window installation!

I never did drag out the tree, so that needs to happen this week. I'll be busy between work and some extra errands this weekend (vet visit for the pups, hair appointment for me), along with the usual chores. Add Christmas decorations, and well I don't foresee much relaxing time for me.

My son turns 31 tomorrow. How the hell did that happen? He's my youngest child, so I'm feeling a little old.

I also need to organize my pantry. I had everything organized and had kept it up for quite some time, but my husband just puts stuff in there willy-nilly and now it's all disorganized and driving me crazy. I'm sure there is stuff that needs to be tossed again too.

I must tidy my kitchen before logging into my work computer, so I best hop to it.

Take care!

I've got a string of lights arriving today and then my new outdoor lights will be done. I needed something directly over the garage.

I splurged and picked up a long string of programable lights to leave mounted on the gutter and up the peak of the house. It took roof work to install the hooks for it. The light string is strung on old heavy duty phone wire I've had forever. The whole rig will just stay up now. This string can be programmed from any event/holiday.

I'll need to design a Mardi Gra one.

Probably do pictures tonight. I went a little nuts with the lights.

I hope your weekend isn't quite as errand-y as you expect it to be, taters! And woo hoo for more lights arriving today, What Exit!

I'm waiting somewhat anxiously for a present that I bought myself. It's a perfume that I really want to try but that I can't find locally, so I went ahead and bought a rather expensive bottle of it from Amazon, sight unseen...I mean scent unsmelled. My "need" to try it was based on a review of it in the book "Perfumes: The A-Z Guide". One of the two authors rated it highly, and the words chosen to describe it delighted me. Then, very serendipitously, an online friend happened to receive a sample of it, the scent of which she described as being "unexpected and exciting"...and she really likes it...so I had to buy it, right? So I wait. And I hope that I won't be horribly disappointed (and angry at myself for wasting money). I'll let y'all know, lol! And for the curious, the perfume is:

https://www.hermes.com/us/en/product...fum-V107263V0/

(Yeah, yeah, it was designed with "young girls" in mind, but that was one of the selling points for me. I have a fondness for "old lady perfumes" that I am trying to redirect, ha ha. This is for the "bold" and "irreverant" ha ha!)

The notes in that (ginger, tuberose, and sandalwood) sound very nice, PD. I hope you like it!
I tend to alternate between a sandalwood (JHAG's Sunny Side Up) and a tuberose (Chloe Roses) for daily wear.

I did not put out Snow Village this year and it feels great. Also did not get ornaments on my tree for 5 days (only lights. I kinda like only lights...)

Another one of my team mates announced his upcoming departure today. We had an impromptu meeting with our manager and asked if the massive turnover isn't raising eyebrows. He was clear that he thinks this is completely expected/normal and he doesn't expect anyone to stick around in my current role for more than 2-3yrs, max.
It cemented my decision to be back on the market. I'm a little sad about that because I like to land places where I can stick around a while, grow, and thrive, but I'm happy because I'm so much more certain now that moving on is the right thing to do. My biggest question will be whether to bail from BSC after almost 25yrs. I know the grass is brown everywhere, but I'm so jaded with this company that maybe a different shade of brown will be interesting if nothing else.

Places do not all suck the same amount. Some suck more and some suck less. It sounds like BSC is a worse place. If you can find a spot with a good team and management that isn't toxic, life can be much better.

The grass is always browner on the other side of the fence. I don't know whether that's a persuasion or a dissuasion for jumping that particular fence.

ETA: But Jade is green (see pic in this wiki link), so you might just be in greener pastures where you're already jaded.

Got me totally beat EVERY year, but I stopped putting up any decorations at all in the mid-late 90s.

ETA: How about a pic from the other angle from that first pic. Your neighbors' houses make it hard to tell what's theirs and what's on your fence and the thing you did in the trees/shrubs that conduct the power to the fence lights.

I watched this over and over when it was posted (I love that sub so darn much!) and just watched it over and over again. Oh man, the tears on my face, it's a keeper!

Yesterday I vomited out some lights on my porch railing and put a wreath on my door, and it looks just like you'd expect. I'm shamed by the rest of you. But I'm used to shame so it's all good.

This is what happens when they start letting anyone who feels like it be gay.

I got up at 2AM after going to bed at 10PM and the blame lies entirely with Jardiance. That stupid commercial was in my head when I turned the light off and it stayed in my head every time I woke up. I don't know what the deal is with waking up in the middle of the night and brainifying hard, but that's where I am these days. I wonder if it's due to not having THC in my blood for the last week, give or take a few days. Sokay, this time of the day is quiet and I get solitude, save for three cats being buttheads.

Still, I blame the Jardiance commercial.

The view from the left as requested. I built a hoist this year over a high branch to lift the lights to run from the house to the fence.

We had also put up some older strings on the back deck. These are strings where sections have gone bad.

Shoot, it was 58F here today at the Dewittiest Chicken Spa & Feline Motor Lodge. We also got pounded by heavy winds and occasion downpours, but now it's as calm as a roomful of stoners. My backyard usually waits until Spring to turn into a lake when the snow melts. This year our snow has been rain instead so far, thus the yard is completely saturated with water already -- before the snow has had a chance to even fall. Come spring we'll have the typical drenchy ponds covering the garden from melted snow, plus all the water that is currently sponged into the soil, waiting to turn into ice next week.

Oy. We have a nearly-new sump pump, though. That should keep the basement from flooding. Lansing will flood, absolutely. But it always does so whatever.

Raining like a bastard and 50 degrees over here. Typical pineapple express. The news is bleating about a deadly atmospheric river, but around here we call it winter.

I spent most of the day gnawing on a mental chew toy, but also blitzed the shack with a shop vac and did some laundry. Tomorrows chore; muck out the bathroom. The shower curtain is starting to develop problem solving skills. And its time to go after the tub surround with an old toothbrush again. It may not be the ritz but at least its not contagious.

I get texts from friends who live outside the PNW asking if I'm drowning in all that "atmospheric river" and "pineapple express" they see on their news channel. Sweet Jesus Mary & Joseph, you guys lived here in the 70s and 80s, it does this nearly every year. It ain't Revelations, I'm not building an ark, fercrissakes.

They just finally figured out a skeery name for it that's broadcast friendly, but we out here were calling it the Pineapple Express since before I even moved to Oregon and that's pushing thirty years now. I just roll my eyes and wait for some REAL climate related disaster to hit a more populated area on the east side of the continent to keep them occupied. This is a bog standard El Nino pattern, too warm to kill off the insect eggs and wet like a wrung out sponge. Gloomy, dank and little chance of a surprise snowstorm to liven things up, just SAD until spring. But that doesn't generate headlines so OMG WEATHER APOCALYPSE ATMOSPHERIC RIVER ONOOOOZ!!! it will be. Idiots.

Yeah, I'm having to knock off working at 4pm because it's too damned dark to see the house numbers. C'mon, solstice!

On the other hand, I had a pretty decent week at work and as my last run today I went ahead and took a fat load o'BBQ up to Vancouver--it was a fair number of miles but it was almost all on the freeway and they were paying through the nose for the service so I went for it. Rainy cold Sundays are bank for a delivery monkey lol. People will shovel All The Money just so they can avoid getting out of their pj's and going out in it. Also, was there some big sportsball thang going on Saturday night or something? Because the hangover remedy food was in big demand today heh heh.

Oooh, ooh, lemme take this one. Because for once I know. Seattle and San Francisco had a big rivalry football game yesterday afternoon. I only know because our shared-wall neighbors had a bunch of other noisy fans over and we could hear them screeching right through the wall. IIRC, Seattle lost, so there might have been a bunch of unhappy hungover football fans throughout the PNW last night.

::proud because I knew something about sports, which is almost unheard of::

They say don’t judge a book by the cover…but I can predict with pretty good accuracy on who is going to get kicked out of some place even before they start acting up.

Woman couldn’t stop sniffing an hour earlier. Now she’s being put out for yelling at a security guard. Called it! Something tells me that sniffing wasn’t from an sinus infection.

Last night, Mrs. Larsen made not quite Reuben sandwiches for dinner. They had hot corned beef, good sauerkraut, good rye bread and hers had Swiss cheese. But we skipped the Thousand Island dressing because we both hate it and I skipped the Swiss cheese because it isn't one of my favorites.

Hey, y'all, I got a job! Couldn't be more up my alley either--part time delivery of premade meals, hourly pay, mileage (cuz I drive my own car yay), free food, Sunday through Wednesday 0900 to 1400. Had a video interview yesterday, got hired same day, did my onboarding today and I start Sunday morning, boom. I'll still be able to Uber after my shift, they make every effort to end you up as close to home as possible and the only traffickey issue is having to get over to the NW Industrial area during morning rush hour but I have a plan for that. This came at just the right time and is just the right amount of security and stability I need right now. Yay!

Healthy stuff, actually--check it out: MyFit Foods. There's a monthly spreadsheet for employees to put in their free meal choices, we get two free every day we work. I can see my freezer stacked with nice healthy alternative meals and boy howdy, can't beat the price!

“Illegal burger”. I wonder what the story is behind that one?

I can’t find any pumpkin spice or cranberry anything. Previously I was able to score some of those items into January if I searched hard enough.

I just learned that if you punch someone in the head, there’s a non 0% chance you can break your own hand. Nothing I’ve experienced on the giving or receiving end, of course. I’m listening to some former MMA fighters on a podcast.

I feel like my rizz level has shot up over the last few months.

Some wisdom--you can hit the soft parts with your hand, to hit the hard parts get a utensil.

Hey there, everyone!

smartie, congrats on the new gig!

I've been busy, busy, busy and between the new pups and work, I am trying my damnedest to keep up with all the nitnoid stuff one must complete.

Christmas shopping is pretty much done; just something for my mother (gift card), and some things for my son, and I am done, done, done.

The prime rib roast has been ordered, and I'll pick it up on the 23rd. The pups also have their second vet appointment on the 23rd and will receive the next round of vaccinations. They were at the vet last weekend and had grown over seven pounds in the two weeks since we'd picked them up. The vet and vet staff looked at Buster and said he would be a big boy. He's already grown taller and doesn't have such a puppy squatty body. Maisie is right behind him.

I'm supposed to be off today but may log in for a quarterly meeting between agency heads later this morning. I haven't decided yet.

I have other things on the agenda, too, such as going to a couple of stores for my son's Christmas presents. Late next week I'll pick up the ingredients for the rest of Christmas day dinner. Since there will probably only be four of us, I'm not getting a lot, and I plan to send some of the food home with my mother and some with my son.

That's it for taterland. Take care.

Sounds like a good gig, Smartie. Any idea how many meals people order at one time?

I've done most of the Christmas shopping for Wolfette and WolfSonInLaw and just need to get one plant for Wolfette. No idea what to get for Mrs. Larsen. We are both really hard to shop for.
