not too bad here. raining steadily all day but not real heavily and some gusty winds

still gonna keep raining into the night but should be done by tomorrow morning

it moved more inland so right now inland cities in NC are getting it worse than I am on the coast

Thanks for checking in, PSXer.

Your governor is making this storm sound pretty bad in the last youtube video I saw of him. He's talking about loss of life and flooding. Hopefully, people around you are safe as well.

this tree is blocking the road right by my driveway. I could still get home because my driveway is the last one night blocked (or the first one that IS blocked depending on your POV)

some random guy is out now chainsawing the tree

vigilante tree removal is bad

best left to the professionals

like he thinks it's quicker to cut up the tree than turn around and go another route

not even an hour after i took the original photos local rando tree removal vigilantes with chainsaws had cleared the road

http://imgur.com/a/dGbOY

and they did it for no reward other than the satisfaction of helping the community

we could have waited days for the county crews to get out here and remove the tree. and those guys would have wanted hurricane pay, pensions, breaks, and health insuracnce. are tax dollars at work -_-

You should have been out there helping to drag the debris out of the street. That's how storm clean-up is done. Neighbors helping each other.

I know who my neighbors are two houses away each side

these people lived farther away

how many of my neighbors do I have to know

these people were probably people who lived farther away who wanted to feel justified in their chainsaw investment

Drove to taco bell today and the stoplight isn't working and no cop there. It's complete and total anarchy!

Just that one light though all the others I passed were working

Shortwave isn't really necessary, it was just the only battery powered radio I had handy. A battery powered AM/FM/Weather band radio should be fine. Get one that has a hand crank charger since there may be no power for a prolonged period after a storm. I used to have a nice hand crank set, but it got lost in a move.

As to why you should have a radio-

Post storm info, where is there power and/or water
Possible water boil annoucements
Where relief aid is happening in your area
Shelter locations if your house gets fucked up
Curfew info. Don't want to get popped out on the streets if there is a curfew in effect, or if a curfew is lifted early and you can leave the house.

Also, if you have a bathtub make sure you fill it up before the storm. If they shut off the water you'll need it to flush the toilet. If you don't have a tub, fill up whatever containers will hold water. Buckets, plastic storage bins, old jugs, anything that will hold water. I can handle no power, but I gotta have that working shitter.

That's not a fallen tree, that's a skinny assed bush.

This is a fallen tree:

There's Cuban propaganda too. And the occasional overt racism, although that's usually wrapped up in religion.
